About this job
Responsible for the management of the Machine Shop. Directly supervises production employees involved in machine, process, fabrication, assembly, or similar production operations in order to meet demand whilst ensuring Safety, Quality, value & Delivery (SQVD) goals are met or exceeded
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Manage the machine shop demand through in-house production and vendor supply
- Manage the vendor offload process in relation to the identification of products for outsourcing, quality requirements and the timely delivery of finished components
- Manage in-house quality and output and co-ordinate manufacturing (both in-house and outsourced) to the planning schedule
- Design, develop and deploy LEAN Manufacturing methodologies throughout the machine shop. Optimize information flows and minimize manufacture cost.
- Develop best practice methodologies and assist with the roll out across Baker Hughes as and when required.
- Develop the machine ship manufacturing process to become an autonomous business unit, enabling it to fully support it’s complex customer base (both internal and external).
- Provides supervision, including responsibility for facility when on duty outside normal office hours.
- Responsible for the planning, coordination and direction of all production operations to ensure maximum throughput and quality including offload and vendor buy-ins
- Make budgetary recommendations and coordinate procurement for capital expenditures.
- Responsible for managing the activities within a production area to meet production, cost, quality and safety goals
- Accomplishes overall manufacturing goals of safety, quality, value, delivery (SQVD) and personnel development
- Optimizes process flow to maximize production output
- Management of employees, delegating workload and dealing with issues, performance feedback and other employee relation issues
- Responsible for ensuring that all activities are conducted in line with HSE requirements and procedures.
- Responsible for mentoring, developing and training of team members and developing core competencies
- Drive continuous improvement - Contributes to the improvement of processes
- Special projects as assigned.
- Any Other Duties as Required
Essential Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
- Experience of working in a manufacturing environment (possibly gained over 8 years)
- Experience of managing a team of staff in a manufacturing environment
- Experience of managing a complete manufacturing function in relation to all staffing requirements, business planning, HSE and quality requirements and overall improvements (possibly gained over 3 years)
- Experience of handling a variety of complex production issues
- Experience of machining – including such operations as turning, milling, threading, grinding and finishing
IT & Company Training Requirement
- Skills in the use of SAP would be beneficial
- Skills in the use of Microsoft Office packages, including e-mail
- General company training and online modules as assigned

Knowledge / Skills
- Knowledge of Manufacturing best practice and improvement methodologies such as Lean and 6 sigma
