Our client, one of the leading IT companies in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is looking for suitable candidates for the role of Z/OS Systems Programmer.
The person will be responsible for the administration and support of z/OS in a parallel Sysplex environment on the mainframe. In addition to the operating systems software including z/OS/MVS, CICS, VTAM, RACF, TSO/ISPF, system utilities, mainframe logical partitions (LPAR), and software development libraries (COBOL, JCL, PROC, PARM, copybooks).
Criteria:
- 15+ years of relevant experience as z/OS (MVS or OS/390) systems programmer.
- Working knowledge of z/OS internals, SMP/E, IPCS, JES2, TSO/E, ISPF/PDF, JCL, LE, IDCAMS, DADSM, VSAM, SMS, and z/OS system software.
- Ability to debug system software problems by analyzing system dumps in both hardcopy and IPCS format.
- Ability to communicate with vendor to resolve problems.
- Familiar with Coupling Facility structures, CF policies, ICF, memory requirements, data sharing and hardware configurations for coupled environments.
Responsibilities:
- Install, test and implement mainframe system software and hardware components while maintaining a stable operating system environment for business applications. Provide technical support to Computer Operations, Applications Delivery and other users of the mainframe systems in areas related to program coding, performance and the use of z/OS tools and utilities.
- Plans and implements corporate strategies for new technology, and assists with development of corporate technology standards.
- Keeps software versions current and applies maintenance and new releases as necessary to keep software under existing maintenance agreements.
- Performs system backups and recovery.
- Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Supports new systems and existing applications developed in-house or those supplied by 3rd party vendors.
- Develops, plans, and implements the overall strategic goals of an organization's mainframe software infrastructure.
- Evaluates and recommends changes to current and future system software requirements to meet the organization's needs.
- Provide on-call support as required by the client
- Establishes and meets service level agreements with clients.
- Insures system performance, redundancy, and fault tolerance.
- Monitors and establishes procedures to maximize productivity and to minimize the occurrence of errors.
- Works with other internal departments to understand current and future projects to insure the systems programming infrastructure is able to meet the demands of future growth.
